What is Vedic Astrology?

Vedic Astrology is the system of astrology that was developed by the ancient sages of India, and has been practiced for more than 5,000 years. It is one part of the vast store of Vedic knowledge, which includes the sciences of Ayurveda and Yoga, to name only a couple. Vedic Astrology developed through thousands of years of these sages correlating astronomical observation with the movements of earthly life. It is used as a tool for self-examination and understanding, as well as for living harmoniously and consciously with the various energies at play in the universe. Vedic Astrology, or Jyotish, as it is called in Sanskrit, is meant to be used as a means of transcending the energies that bind us to material existence and suffering.

Why is the birth time and location so
important in astrology?

The time and location of birth is important because of time zones. South Africa is on a very different ‘time’ than the U.S.A. or any other country. It’ s the same with cities. Even two people born on the same day, at the same time but in different locations will have very different birth charts. The time of birth is also very important to the Ascendant in astrology.

How can astrology help me?

Astrology allows us insight into our own personality, motivations, beliefs, and early environmental factors we have internalized that affect our decision making. Astrology can provide insight into how these factors may unfold in probable fashion through future planetary aspects and progressed measurements. It can give us insight into others and therefore increase understanding and depth in our relationships. It educates you about your present, and prepares you for the future. You learn when and how to take advantage of the auspicious opportunities that come your way; and you learn how to minimize the impact of the less fortunate cycles.

What is the difference between
astrological sign and horoscope?

A person’s astrological sign is determined simply by the position of the sun at the time of birth. The horoscope, however, is literally a map of the heavens showing the exact position of the sun, moon, and planets. It is mathematically calculated using the exact date, hour, and location of an individual’s birth. Many people are born on the same date but at a different hour. Many are born on the same date and in the same hour, but not in the same place. An individual’s horoscope is calculated using all three of these variables.

How does Vedic Astrology Work?

There is a common misconception that Astrology is based on the idea that the planets and stars exert some sort of physical influence on individuals, thereby affecting our lives for good or ill. Certainly, the concept of Jupiter’s energy or magnetic vibrations reaching through deep space to target a certain small place on Earth is far fetched. The truth of the matter is that Astrology communicates through a language of symbols. The positions of the various planets at the moment of birth can be looked at like the hands on a very complicated clock. By studying the relationships and positions of the planets through the lens of Vedic Astrology, the nature of a certain individual’s life can be revealed. It takes much practice, study, observation, and clarity of vision to unravel the messages portrayed by such a complex timepiece as the dance of the planets around the Sun, against the backdrop of the stars of the universe. Basically the work of a Vedic Astrologer is that of translator; the pattern portrayed by an astrological chart is an arcane arrangement of symbols that shows potentials and possibilities, and it is up to the astrologer to transform what is shown into a message that an individual can understand and use for personal evolution purposes.

How is astrology used in business?

Astrology has many uses for business. Some of them include being able to see an organization’s cycles, strengths and challenges, both from the beginning and over time. This includes information about the company finances, products, sales/marketing, management, operations, facilities, legal issues, distribution, research, company reputation and more. A company’s cycles show the challenges and opportunities for the next year (or longer), as well as their timing.

Is astrology an art or a science?

The answer to that depends on personal opinion. Until astrology is once again accepted back into mainstream education, the classification of it doesn’t really matter and is unlikely to be agreed upon. In some ways it is a science, in as much as it follows a clearly definable set of rules and principles, based upon mathematical and astronomical calculations. In other ways it is an arts subject, in as much as the interpretation of an astrological chart is based upon a rich and symbolic language, and the art of synthesising hundreds of variables into a coherent interpretation is a skill based more upon language and psychology than on science.

Which is the best predictive science –
astrology, palmistry, numerology or any
other and why?

Compared to all other predictive sciences, Indian system of astrology is known for its accuracy, reliability and in-depth analysis. Other systems are used either in the absence of reliable birth data, or in the absence of its interpretation. Astrology is the only system where predictions can be made precisely with time.
